CDH on ubuntu 16.04 xenial ?

[ Edited ]

Hi

The CDH packages are not available for xenial in http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh5/ubuntu/

Would it be possible to add them ?

Thanks !

Ubuntu 16.04 is not currently supported but it's on the roadmap. Hang tight!

It's been nearly 6 months since this was originally asked.

Is there an ETA for supporting Xenial?

Re: CDH on ubuntu 16.04 xenial ?

With the lates 5.11.0, its mentioned that ubuntu 16.04 xenial is supported.

When trying to install. I get this error:

sudo apt-get update

Anyone has any idea on how to get around this?

Re: CDH on ubuntu 16.04 xenial ?

The problem isn't the warning about the weak signature. All the information about the package files isn't consistent and files are listed as empty:

% wget http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh5/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/cdh/dists/xenial-cdh5/InRelease

% cat InRelease

ubuntu@ip-10-166-41-113:~$ cat InRelease

Re: CDH on ubuntu 16.04 xenial ?

Only the xenial-cdh5/ repo is broken, xenial-cdh5.11/ is consistent. So there is the following work-around:

  1. dowload the file cloudera.list following this instruction
  2. edit the file so that it points to the valid repo (5.11 now, but this may change):
    % cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cloudera.list
    # Packages for Cloudera's Distribution for Hadoop, Version 5, on Ubuntu 16.04 amd64
    deb [arch=amd64] http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh5/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/cdh xenial-cdh5.11 contrib
    deb-src http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh5/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/cdh xenial-cdh5.11 contrib
  3. continue "as usual": sudo apt update, etc.
