Cloudera Director creates 3 additional volumes in AWS

Hey there,

I am pretty new to Cloudera Director and I have a little question. I am using the Cloudera Director on a AWS EC2 instance.

Every time I create an instance inside of a Cluster, using the Cloudera Director, the instance gets beside the root volume, 3 additional volumes. For the instance, I created a template, using 0 additional EBS volumes. Are these 3 volumes intended, or did I do something wrong?

Thank you for help and with kind regards

Max

Re: Cloudera Director creates 3 additional volumes in AWS

Hi Max,

This is likely related to the instance type you are using. Some instance types come with instance store volumes which are physically attached on the instance (e.g d2.xlarge comes with 3 instance store volumes).  During instance launch, Director will automatically add these volumes for supported instance types. Something else to keep in mind, EBS volumes are mutually exclusive with instance store volumes in Director, you can refer to this section of the docs for additional details.
