Cloudera Manager running without HA

[ Edited ]

Currently we are running Cloudera manager without HA capability.

what pre-cautionary measures that can we take now , which would help us in re-building the environment in-case of hardware failure ?

Re: Cloudera Manager running without HA

@Johnny_Bach,

All of Cloudera Manager's information is stored in the CM database.  There are some other minor things, but here are the primary things to back up regularly to ensure you can revert to a recent state in case the CM host breaks:

  • Back up the Cloudera Manager Database itself (via the tools for your db brand with intent on recover ability)
  • /etc/cloudera-scm-server directory (it contains your CM config for startup)
  • /etc/default/cloudera-scm-server file (in case you have any custom env variarbles there)
  • /var/lib/cloudera-scm-server (it contains summary files from all the commands (referenced by db rows))

The main thing is the db backup.

That should be a start.
