Cm deployment Json does not contain all the information.

Hi,

We have recently made changed a couple of properties for HDFS service using Cloudera manager UI. I took back up of the config before and after the change. Interestingly we could not find any difference in the json's before and after the change. Is this the expected behavior?

diff cm_config_2018_08_08_beforeOutage.json cm_config_2018_08_08_afterOutage.json

8587c8587
< "timestamp" : "2018-08-03T17:17:12.591Z",
---
> "timestamp" : "2018-08-08T16:03:49.116Z",

curl -u admin https://cmhost:7183/api/v10/cm/deployment -s is the command use to take the backup.

Thanks & Regards,

Siva

@balusu

Did you restart the HDFS Service after the config change?

@balusu,

I know it has been a month, but do you recall what changes you made?

Re: Cm deployment Json does not contain all the information.

@balusu,

I played with it using the same curl command and I see the diff:

[root@tls12-1 ~]# diff cmdeployment_beforechange.out cmdeployment_afterchange.out
2c2
<   "timestamp" : "2018-09-19T20:20:56.236Z",
---
>   "timestamp" : "2018-09-19T20:23:31.046Z",
112,114d111
<           "name" : "dfs_encrypt_data_transfer_algorithm",
<           "value" : "AES/CTR/NoPadding"
<         }, {

In the above, I reset it to the default of rc4

Not sure what happened in your case, but it should have worked for you to do what you did with the diff.

@bgooley We have rebooted the cm instance for patching and trying to debug the script later and to our surprise, it started working as expected. I am not sure what happened and as it is the
