Start HDFS failed in Cloudera Setup, error creating temp dir

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

When I use cloudera setup, the start HDFS stage fails saying it's unable to create a /tmp directory

I've been stuck on this problem for a few days after trying to install cdh 5.13 on a centos 7 cluster. It's become very frustrating. I've tried every answer I could find and two fresh installs.

- Java log files give a connection refused error. I've already disabled firewall and selinux though

Your namenode is probably in a safemode and does not allow/accept writes.
Check the namenode logs, what is the problem.
