Topic: Enterprise-Class Deep Learning with DL4J
Date/Time: July 14th at 7pm
Location: Cloudera Austin Office, 515 Congress, suite 1212
Cloudera is hosting the Austin ACM meetup to present Enterprise-Class Deep Learning. Food and drinks will be provided.
Josh's talk comes at a perfect time because many companies have demonstrated the ability to run Deep Learning algorithms within Spark, and we will continue to focus much of our activities around this wonderful platform!
Enterprise-Class Deep Learning with DL4J
In this talk, we’ll introduce the crowd to the major architectures of Deep Networks and discuss the practical applications of Deep Learning in Enterprise today. We’ll discuss the basic concepts associated with Deep Networks and provide context for how they are used. We’ll also introduce the DL4J framework and talk about how DL4J implements these ideas to allow the JVM to be a first class citizen in the world of Deep Learning.
Josh Patterson currently is the Director of Field Engineering for Skymind, a Deep Learning startup supporting DL4J. Previously Josh ran a big data consultancy, worked as a Principal Solutions Architect at Cloudera and as a machine learning / distributed systems engineer at the Tennessee Valley Authority where he brought Hadoop into the smart grid with the openPDC project. Josh has a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he did published research on mesh networks (tinyOS) and social insect optimization algorithms. Josh has over 18 years in software development and is very active in the open source space with projects such as DL4J, Apache Mahout, Metronome, IterativeReduce, openPDC, and JMotif.
