Cloudera is delighted to announce the release of Cloudera Data Science Workbench 1.5.0. With this release, Cloudera Data Science Workbench includes direct integration with Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP), adds support for Cloudera Enterprise 6.1 (and higher), and ships some noteworthy bug fixes and enhancements.
Cloudera Data Science Workbench on Hortonworks Data Platform
Cloudera Data Science Workbench is now ready to help Hortonworks customers accelerate the delivery of new data products through secure, collaborative data science at scale.
Built using Docker containers, Cloudera Data Science Workbench offers data science teams per-project isolation and reproducibility, in addition to easier collaboration. By leveraging HDP’s support for Apache Ranger and Apache Atlas, IT teams can take advantage of their previous investment in security, audit, and governance policies along with seamless Kerberos and LDAP integration. Add Cloudera Data Science Workbench to an existing HDP cluster, and it just works.
Created with enterprises in mind, CDSW has been chosen by Cloudera’s many enterprise customers to accelerate modern, open data science for business at scale. We’re looking forward to providing the same benefits to HDP customers with CDSW on HDP.
For more details, see Deploying Cloudera Data Science Workbench on HDP.
Cloudera Data Science Workbench on Cloudera Enterprise 6
Cloudera Data Science Workbench 1.5 adds support for Cloudera Enterprise 6.1 (or higher). For CSD-based deployments, we now ship two different CSDs, one for CDH 5 and one for CDH 6. For RPM deployments, the same package can be used to install CDSW on both, CDH 5 and CDH 6.
For installation instructions, see Installation on CDH. For upgrade instructions, and an overview of how to upgrade your CDSW deployment from CDH 5 to CDH 6, see Upgrades on CDH.
Security Enhancements, Bug Fixes, and Debuggability Improvements
Version 1.5 includes some important bug fixes and debuggability improvements that make it easier to debug issues with CDSW engines. In addition, site administrators can now disable uploads/downloads of project files from the Cloudera Data Science Workbench UI.
