I would like to go through the Cloudera tutorial so I tried to download the "Virtual Box" (for Windows) Virtual machine but I only got a .ovf and a .vmdk file.
A machine definition in Virtual Box seems to be a .vbox extension file...
Am I missing a step?

Thank you for trying out the Quickstart VM. I suggest taking a look at our community article How to setup Cloudera Quickstart Virtual Machine which should get you through the install process.
Best of luck and let me know how it goes. :)

Did you choose virtual box from the drop down menu before hitting the download button in the webpage .
Make sure to go to the BIOS setting and enable virtualization before you kick off virtualbox or vmware .
Once you getting in to the enviroment you can use express or enterprise
To use Cloudera Express (free), run:
sudo /home/cloudera/cloudera-manager --express
This requires at least 8 GB of RAM and at least 2 virtual CPUs.
To begin a 60-day trial of Cloudera Enterprise with advanced management
sudo /home/cloudera/cloudera-manager --enterprise
This requires at least 10 GB or RAM and at least 2 virtual CPUs.
