Try to put the command within quotes. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;[hdfs@hadoopnn01 ~]$ beeline -u "jdbc:hive2://hadoopnn01.infoshop.com.tr:2181,hadoop01.infoshop.com.tr:2181,hadoopnn02.infoshop.com.tr:2181/;serviceDiscoveryMode=zooKeeper;zooKeeperNamespace=hiveserver2"
