Yes, you can resume installation using Ambari, and also you can add HDP components from Ambari; However, if you are looking to remove some of the HDP components, then you have to first manually remove the component before proceeding to add that from Ambari.

Here is the link on how to remove a HDP service/component - https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AMBARI/Using+APIs+to+delete+a+service+or+all+host+components+on+a+host

During an HDP deployment (automated with Ambari) we've found some issues on our end to resolve. Am we able resume installation from the point I left off in the Ambari installer at a later time, or will we need to start from scratch? In this case the stopping point is after cluster configuration, but before deployment. Ambari 2.2.1, HDP 2.4

Thanks

Take a look at http://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/Ambari-2.2.1.1/bk_ambari_troubleshooting/content/_resolving_ambari_install_and_setup_problems.html

I am not sure at what state your install is. If you want to restart afresh, you can start with

ambari-server reset

Once done, you can start again with your install. However, depending on the state where you stopped, you may be able to retry and proceed from there.

Thanks for the responses but the install state was not recoverable.
