I want to set "hive.mapred.mode" as "strict" for hue.

In the file "/etc/hive/conf/hive-site.xml", I can set hive parameters. However, it seems that this file cannot affect hue.

Where can I change hue's default setting?

Which version are you using?

If you are using HiveServer2, make sure that you are editing the
hive-site.xml of the same machine.

Romain

It's hue 2.5.0.

I tried this in a one-machine test system, and I even restarted the hue service.

It just doesn't work.

The parameters in "/etc/hive/conf/hive-site.xml" works in hive where I use CLI, but has nothing to do with hue.

Does hue has its own configure files?

Are you using Cloudera Manager?

Is Hue configured with Beeswax?

Romain

Yes, I'm using Cloudera Manager.

When I say "hue", actually I mean Beeswax in hue. Sorry for my inappropriate expression.
So you needs to insert the parameters in the Hive safety valve of Beeswax:

Beeswax Server Default Group -- > Advanced
Hive Advanced Configuration Snippet (Safety Valve)

CM overwrite the local hive-site.xml so this is the way to modify it.

Romain

Hi Romain,

I was trying to implement the same setting on my cluster, but could not find Hive Advanced Configuration Snippet (Safety Valve) in Hue, could you help me where to enter the configuration parameter in Cloudera Manager Ver. 5.4.0

hive.mapred.mode=strict

Thanks.

Hue sends queries to HiveServer2, so you would want to implement it in the CM configuration for HS2, which is this safety valve in the Hive service:

HiveServer2 Advanced Configuration Snippet (Safety Valve) for hive-site.xml
