Jing provides some context around this in the second answer <A href="https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/35539/snapshots-backup-and-dr.html">here</A>. The work to complete this is discussed in <A href="https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-7535">HDFS-7535</A> and some more context is provided there.
