Tail /var/log/messages when you try to start Postgresql to see if you can get more information on the problem.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;had to uninstall ambari&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Then I manually installed postgresql, chmod on the directories and ran sysctl enable and started postgresql&lt;/P&gt;</description>
