Unfortunately there is no early-release version that can be handed out
at present. Please check back with Cloudera Manager 5.4 which should
out in Q2 2015. Is there anything specific about RHEL 6.6 that
prevents you from using 6.5?

Hi,

Does Cloudera Express work with RHEL 6.6? On the Cloudera documentation site, it compatible RHEL releases include RHEL 6.5, but not RHEL 6.6.

If Cloudera Express isn't yet available for RHEL 6.6, is an early access copy available, that's compatible with RHEL 6.6?

Thank you,

Susan

Hi Gautam,

Thank you very much for your prompt and informative reply. The reason I'd prefer RHEL 6.6 is that's the default that our Operations people use for VMs, and I don't like to create extra work for them. Is there a way that I can build CDH on RHEL 6.6 that will work, and, if so, are instructions available?

Thank you,

Susan

You could install CDH on Red Hat 6.6 and it might just work, however
there might be a few problems here and there. If you logged a support
case, we'd be hesitant to provide advice as we don't yet test against
that release.

If he decides to enable TLS encryption between server and agents it most definitely will not work. Ran into this issue.

See here: http://community.cloudera.com/t5/Cloudera-Manager-Installation/Cloudera-Manager-support-for-Centos-6-6/m-p/21478/thread-id/2820/highlight/true

Thank you very much for letting me know about this specific issue with TLS encryption, with using RHEL 6.6 (which Cloudera does not plan to support until Q2 2015) with CDH.

Hello Susan, please note my statement about Q2 2015 and CDH 5.4 wasn't
definitive. I was merely indicating that you could check to see if it is
supported when 5.4 does come out. It is difficult to promise ahead of time
as engineering priorities can change over time.

Thank you for clarifying, Gautam. Is RHEL 6.6 support currently planned for a future CDH release, and, if so, which one, if not CDH 5.4 in Q2 2015?

Thank you,

Susan Coombs
