Hi, I am trying to add a new node to the Cloudera Manager. This node is behind a firewall and I have opened the 7182 and 9000 port. I installed the agent and is running fine. It even showed up on the CM UI, and I am able to run Host Inspector When I am trying to add the host to the cluster, I am getting a socket timeout exception at 99% of Parcel distribution. is my method correct? Is there any more port to be opened in the firewall for this to work? Thanks in advance Sebin

Please check the agent log for the distribution failure. It should be under
/var/log/cloudera-scm-agent

Hi Gautam,

Thanks for the reply!.

I have taken a look at the log file and it seems to me that 7180 port is used for parcel download, which is not opened in the firewall. So, I believe that is the issue. Is there any workaround for this? Also, do you know for what purpose 7182 port is used by Cloudera Manager?

Thanks

Sebin

7180 is for the Cloudera Manager host Web UI. So the parcel will be
downloaded by the agent from this port via HTTP.
7182 is for agents to send a heartbeat to Cloudera Manager.

Please open 7180 in the firewall and see if the distribution succeeds.
