See the following link for a bit more detail:

https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/87388/how-to-sync-users-and-groups-from-both-ldap-and-un.html

is it possible to have both local and LDAP ID for Ranger Authentication?

Right now I am logging into Ranger UI with my local ID and planning to implement ranger authentication using LDAP. After implementation of Ranger authentication with LDAP, I will be able to login Ranger UI with my LDAP ID. what my question is, will my Local ID still work? After changing Ranger authentication method to LDAP.

This works similar to Ambari LDAP sync but here in Ranger User sync will be automatic.
