    <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;A href="https://community.hortonworks.com/questions/194560/@Michael%20Bronson"&gt;&lt;EM&gt;@Michael Bronson&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;I meant using i.e Firewall to block the &lt;A href="http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/"&gt;public-repo-1.hortonworks.com&lt;/A&gt; public IP or disable it in the repo by setting enabled=0 (false) instead of 1 (true) see below&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;PRE&gt;&lt;EM&gt;[HDP-UTILS-1.1.0.21]

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;A href="@Michael Bronson"&gt;@Michael Bronson&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;There are 3 ways to avoid updates just tweak you disable ambari &amp;amp; hdp* repos by changing the URL o a non-existant host &lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;EM&gt;&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;EM&gt;&lt;P style="display: inline !important;"&gt;/etc/yum.repos.d/ *.repo&lt;/P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;EM&gt;/etc/host file&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;EM&gt;Just block the public-repo-1.hortonworks.com public IP&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;Hope that helps&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;regarding the last option - &lt;EM&gt;Just block the &lt;A href="http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/"&gt;public-repo-1.hortonworks.com&lt;/A&gt; public IP&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;what you mean just "&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;EM&gt;lock the &lt;A href="http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/"&gt;public-repo-1.hortonworks.com&lt;/A&gt; public IP"&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;HOW?&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;remark we use only scripts to install ambari &amp;amp; HDP , so if we need to change someting in ambari we need to use API  in order to perfrom some changing &lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
