RecordService 0.2.0 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of RecordService 0.2.0. RecordService is a new core security layer that centrally enforces fine-grained access control policy, using a new abstraction layer between compute frameworks and data storage. Complementing Apache Sentry, which provides unified policy management, Cloudera now delivers unified row- and column-based security, and dynamic data masking, to every Hadoop access path. This combination of RecordService and Sentry allows security administrators to define fine-grained access control policies that will be uniformly enforced for Impala, Spark, Pig, Hive, and MapReduce with no performance loss.

RecordService 0.2.0 includes the following new features:

  • Support for CDH 5.5
  • Sentry Column-Level Authorization
  • Spark 1.5 integration
  • CSD improvements to improve UX of Spark and Sentry configuration
  • Table metadata loading performance improvements

In addition, the following bugs have been fixed:

  • Multiple bug fixes when running two or more planners.
  • Path requests to not pass connected user in all cases, leading to authorization failures.
  • SpecificMutableRow exception while running spark-shell with RS.
  • Port conflict when two RecordServiceds are running on the same host.
  • Update task_size to use total bytes of scan ranges.
  • Fail plan request when worker membership is empty.
