CDH5 Virtual Machine Virtualization error on Windows Server

Dear Team,

I am ttrying to run CDH5 on VM Plater 7.1 and Virtual Box but getting following errors respectively:

"This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot - Please use a ke...

and

VT-x is not available.

I went through various blogs stating that virtualization should be enabled on my machine. I enabled the virtualization in BIOS but still getting the

same issue.

I wasn't getting the issue on CDH4.

Also, I have 64-bit Windows Server 2012 machine with Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 x64-based processor.

Please suggest the solution.

Regards

Re: CDH5 Virtual Machine Virtualization error on Windows Server

See this StackOverflow post that should answer your question: http://superuser.com/a/156883

Your current processor will not allow you to run 64-bit CPU requiring VMs. Its possible that the older VM you may have used was a 32-bit CPU type, but CDH5 packaging is no longer supported for 32-bit CPUs.

Short of upgrading your hardware, I believe you can still use a 32-bit OS in a VM and install manually using tar-balls found at http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh5/cdh/5/.
