Sending data from generic Apache 1.0.4. to CDH 5.

Hi,

we have developed a platform on generic Apache 1.0.4. However, we encountered an urgent need to send and receive data from/to CDH5. Our initial study and test revealed that they are not compatible and it takes a big time effort to port from Apache 1.0.4 to CDH5.
We are curious if there is anything that we are missing here.

Here are questions?
. Is there a patch that we can add to Apache 1.0.4 and become compatible to CDH5?
. Are there any documents or porting guide that ease the pain of switching Apache 1.x to CDH5 which is based on Apache 2.x?

Thank you.

What do you feel will be the "big time effort" in upgrading? My team and me have observed several such major upgrades among our customers and the work's never more than a few hours if you plan your execution and downtimes.

No, cause that's tantamount to upgrading to CDH5 itself.

The upgrade's relatively simple with the user APIs and commands remaining mostly the same. You can follow the CDH3 (0.20/1.x based old CDH) to CDH4 upgrade guide for an example of how to do this.

About the only way you can try to do this is via the webhdfs:// protocol, instead of hdfs:// protocols. It may be compatible between these two versions.
