Cloudera management service will not start

Hello,

I have a 4 node cluster running CDH 5.3.1. Recently, due to a series of unfortunate events, the Manager machine and one of the nodes had to be rebooted.

Ever since, the management services have refused to start.

Here's a few screenshots showing the issue, and a sequence of log entries leading up to the error: http://imgur.com/a/AYQLd#0

To summarise the log messages, the key ones appear to be:

IOException while getting descriptor
org.codehaus.jackson.map.JsonMappingException: Can not construct instance of java.lang.Long from String value 'CDH 5.3.1': not a valid Long value
at [Source: java.io.StringReader@52dec7eb; line: 1, column: 108] (through reference chain: com.cloudera.cmf.descriptors.DescriptorAndHash["descriptor"]->com.cloudera.cmf.descriptors.ScmDescriptor["clusters"]->com.cloudera.cmf.descriptors.ClusterDescriptor["version"])
	at org.codehaus.jackson.map.JsonMappingException.from(JsonMappingException.java:163)
No descriptor fetched from http://<redacted>:7180 on after 1 tries, sleeping...
Failed to publish event: SimpleEvent{attributes={STACKTRACE=[org.codehaus.jackson.map.JsonMappingException: Can not construct instance of java.lang.Long from String value 'CDH 5.3.1': not a valid Long value
 at [Source: java.io.StringReader@52dec7eb; line: 1, column: 108]

..and after 4 more tries of "No descriptor detched from http://...", everything end with this:

Could not fetch descriptor after 5 tries, exiting.

Both cloudera-scm-server and cloudera-scm-server-db are running fine on the Manager machine, and the agent service is running fine on each of the 4 hosts.

Has anyone faced something like this before? Please help!

Thanks in advance,

Shrikant
