hive1: Service does not support role type HIVESERVER2 after CDM 5.2 upgrade

Hi,

Performed an upgrade from CDM 4.8.0 to 5.2 and everything seems to be working, except CDM refuses to manage the Hive Server2 role.

Has this been depreciated or anything?  It's not clear what happened / is supposed to happen here.  We need the hiveserver or a replacement to do certain tasks.

Appreciate any responses....

Thanks!

Hi,

It sounds like you are upgrading Cloudera Manager ("CM", not "CDM"). Can you confirm?

What version of CDH are you running?

HIVESERVER2 is supported in CDH4.2+. Can you provide more details on where you saw the error, and provide the precise error message?

Is it possible that you are using CDH4.1? If so, then HS2 was never supported for that version, but earlier Cloudera Manager versions didn't prevent you from trying. In this case, you should remove the HS2 role, upgrade to CDH4.2+, then add it back.

Thanks,
Darren
