WebHDFS doesn't seem to be working, yet HUE is working fine ... how is this possible ?

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I've got HUE working like a champ, this is CDH 5.8 in our Lab.

but I'm getting lots of failures or hangs with curl using various commands

hangs:

http://localhost:50070/webhdfs/v1/tmp/test1?op=MKDIRS

I'm trying to figure out what Port HUE is using, my hue.ini doesn't show it.

This is commented out in hue.ini

      # Use WebHdfs/HttpFs as the communication mechanism.
      # Domain should be the NameNode or HttpFs host.
      # Default port is 14000 for HttpFs.
      ## webhdfs_url=http://localhost:50070/webhdfs/v1

is there some other param or config I should be referencing?

Regards,

Craig

Howdy,

Thanks for reaching out on this. First, let’s get some additional info:

-Do you have Namenode High availability enabled?

-Go to HDFS>instances in Cloudera Manager.

-If you have a "standby namenode"  listed as one of your instances, you have HA(high availability) enabled.

-Do you currently have any safety valves active for the Hue service? If so, could you share what they are?

    -Go to Hue>configuration in CM

-type "safety valve" into the search box at the top of the config page. This should show your safety valves for

Hue. Please share any values these may have in them.

-Are you currently referencing "/var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/<id>-HUE/" for your hue.ini?

Let me know what you find, and we'll dig in. (screenshots are more than welcome)

Cheers
