Impala unable to access HDFS

Hi,

Any idea on why Impala is giving problem when I am trying to run a Create External Table query. The data to be read is on HDFS as a csv file.

Error I get is:

WARNINGS: Impala does not have READ_WRITE access to path 'hdfs://quickstart.cloudera:8020/user/cloudera/sample'

My HDFS permissions look like:

[cloudera@quickstart conf]$ hdfs dfs -ls /user/cloudera/sample
Found 5 items
drwxr-xr-x   - impala   cloudera          0 2016-01-24 09:07 /user/cloudera/sample/superstore
-rwxr-xr-x   1 cloudera cloudera    1778645 2016-01-24 08:23 /user/cloudera/sample/superstore.csv

Re: Impala unable to access HDFS

Hi,

you should check the permissions for /user/cloudera/sample

One way to see them is to run hdfs dfs -ls on the parent directory:

hdfs dfs -ls /user/cloudera
