I am really happy to join cloudera community and looking forward to it in trems of knowledge sharing.
Hi! after reading past replies I'll just wing my introduction.
I am a newbie in big data currently using the quickstart of cloudera in a virtual machine. I'd love to code someday an app connecting to each services that cloudera has, (PIG, HIVE, IMPALA, etc.)
Currently I am working on how to schedule a impala job through oozie. But I encounter a hickup and hope to find some enligthenment on the community.
Welcome to the community xylenet. I noticed your post about the oozie issue and hopefully you will get a response soon. Since the community is a peer to peer network with Clouderans also posting as time allows, it may take a little time. Best of luck and thank you for sharing.
I am currently working for a big telecommunications company in Texas, USA. I am currently in a role of a Development Manager/Specialist with around 15 years of experience in Advance J2EE technologies. Although I am interested in getting involved with the Hadoop use cases and as I go through the studies, training and projects. As I have the very solid Java and sql background so can understand all the created items till the depth. Very interesting framework and is going to be evolved in the future to create the benchmark. I am specially excited to see how OLTP works with Big Data.
Thanks & Regards
@LC, glad to have you in our community and welcome to the big world of big data! I actually spent several of my early years in my IT career at Nortel Networks up in Dallas, telecom is a fast-moving industry!
Best of luck,
I am Swamy Kulkarni working as Product Manager in Thomson Reuters. I have been into data warehouse/data management domain for over 10 years, initially within personal finance and then mostly into Capital Markets (Market Data) space. My technical expertise has been with data modeling and SQL queries. I am primarily a product person focussing on management side of it.
And right now (quite laboriously) I getting hands on with Cloudera/Spark to figure out if some of our structured/time series data management problems/needs can be defined as 'our' big data problem and how Cloudera can solve it.
Looking forward to an interactive journey in this community.
Welcome to our community, Swamy! Best of luck on your big data adventure, we're sure you'll find the assistance you need here.
