Your use case is pretty standard in what Sentry can achieve. Have you read through the Sentry documentation already? http://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/latest/topics/sg_hive_sql.html

Re: separate users database in Hive

While I am creating new service for sentry, I was asked to enter DB (postgrs, mysql, oracle)
Do I must create external DB ?

Re: separate users database in Hive

Hi,

Sentry supports both file based and service based, however, the service based approach is highly recommended. And in order to use the service based Sentry, a backend database is required.

More information about Sentry can be found below.

Sentry Service:

http://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/latest/topics/cm_sg_sentry_service.html

Sentry Policy File Authorization

http://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/latest/topics/cdh_sg_sentry.html

Hope this helps.

Thanks
