HBase hfile.block.cache.size setting overridden

Hello,

I'm trying to optimize the performance of my HBase/Thrift setup. The 'HFile Block Cache Size' is set to 0.25 by default. However, on the configuration page of the master at  http://<hbase master>:60010/conf the property reports that it is disabled programatically:

<property>
<name>hfile.block.cache.size</name>
<value>0.0</value>
<source>programatically</source>
</property>

How can this property be modified?

Re: HBase hfile.block.cache.size setting overridden

Yes, the HMaster does disable block cache cause it is not necessary for the HMaster to keep one around when it does HFile work. HMaster does not serve data to clients, so this makes entire sense.

You should find the proper, relevant, and enabled value on a RegionServer's /conf page.
