I have been unsuccessfully trying to install via Ambari for (literally) years now on Ubuntu.
I have a cluster with master and slave2, 3 and 4.
I get 'Host not found, hostname=master' error.
I have tried both auto and manual registering. None of the 4 nodes registers.
I can ssh passwordless for master to the slaves and I am running the server on master. (I can't ssh in the other direction, does this matter?).
nmap -p 8440 master shows 8440, 8441 are open on master, 8670 is closed, does this matter?
Do the ports on slaves matter?
I have static IPs and my /etc/hosts are:
127.0.0.1 localhost 192.168.1.2 slave2 192.168.1.1 master 192.168.1.3 slave3 192.168.1.4 slave4
Any help is much appreciated, my network skills are minimal.
ping master PING master (192.168.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from master (192.168.1.1): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.243 ms
ssh root@master ssh: connect to host master port 22: Connection refused
I'm using used hduser rather than root but it gave the same error.
It seems master is installing (might be stuck) but the others are not working and now the error
'Host not found, hostname=slave2'
rebooted and same except error:
Error executing bootstrap Cannot create /var/run/ambari-server/bootstrap
If you configured the password less ssh for root user through keys then why we need root password?
