Please note that starting on Monday, April 25, 2016, the Cloudera Live service for AWS clusters will be discontinued. If you have already signed up for an access code, you will be able to use it through Sunday, April 24, 2016.
The same tutorial and data sets will continue to be available on the Cloudera QuickStart VM, so you can complete the same exercise on VMware, VirtualBox, Docker, or other desktop virtualization environments: http://go.cloudera.com/vm-download.
If you're looking for an easy way to deploy clusters on AWS, we recommend using Cloudera Director via AWS QuickStart: http://www.cloudera.com/products/cloudera-director.html
This is so disappointing to hear, I've been working to use this to set up training for my company in our VPC. Downloading a VM can be very frustrating due to limitations of personal PC's and length of time to download, plus having the VM become outdated.
Does this new quick start with AWS include the same environment set up with the tutorials and Tableau? What are our options for enabling this?
The AWS QuickStart option for deploying Cloudera Director does not include the tutorial (it may in the future) or Tableau. Configuring a Tableau instance to connect to Impala like you would have in Cloudera Live is a pretty painless process, anyway. Hue will still include sample datasets that can be used on the clusters, including a sample table in Impala.
