Atlas Metadata server crashes

Atlas Metadata server crashes

Super Collaborator

Hi,

Restarting the Atlas metaserver is passing the check fine:

......
......

2016-10-18 19:10:20,827 - Execute['kinit -kt /etc/security/keytabs/kafka.service.keytab kafka/sithdpnmr2p.standardbank.co.za@HADOOP.COM; bash /var/lib/ambari-agent/tmp/atlas_kafka_acl.sh'] {'tries': 5, 'user': 'kafka', 'try_sleep': 10}
2016-10-18 19:10:28,651 - Execute['source /etc/atlas/conf/atlas-env.sh ; /usr/hdp/current/atlas-server/bin/atlas_start.py'] {'not_if': 'ls /var/run/atlas/atlas.pid >/dev/null 2>&1 && ps -p `cat /var/run/atlas/atlas.pid` >/dev/null 2>&1', 'user': 'atlas'}

Command completed successfully!

But after a few seconds the server crashes with this error:

2016-10-18 19:11:04,254 ERROR Exception in AtlasAuthenticationFilter (AtlasAuthenticationFilter:308) java.lang.NullPointerException at org.apache.hadoop.security.authentication.server.KerberosAuthenticationHandler$2.run(KerberosAuthenticationHandler.java:377) at org.apache.hadoop.security.authentication.server.KerberosAuthenticationHandler$2.run(KerberosAuthenticationHandler.java:349) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at javax.security.auth.Subject.doAs(Subject.java:422) at org.apache.hadoop.security.authentication.server.KerberosAuthenticationHandler.authenticate(KerberosAuthenticationHandler.java:349) at org.apache.atlas.web.filters.AtlasAuthenticationFilter.doKerberosAuth(AtlasAuthenticationFilter.java:356) at org.apache.atlas.web.filters.AtlasAuthenticationFilter.doFilter(AtlasAuthenticationFilter.java:303) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:342) at org.springframework.security.web.servletapi.SecurityContextHolderAwareRequestFilter.doFilter(SecurityContextHolderAwareRequestFilter.java:54) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:342) at org.springframework.security.web.savedrequest.RequestCacheAwareFilter.doFilter(RequestCacheAwareFilter.java:45) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:342) at org.springframework.security.web.authentication.www.BasicAuthenticationFilter.doFilter(BasicAuthenticationFilter.java:150) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:342) at org.springframework.security.web.authentication.AbstractAuthenticationProcessingFilter.doFilter(AbstractAuthenticationProcessingFilter.java:183) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:342) at org.springframework.security.web.authentication.logout.LogoutFilter.doFilter(LogoutFilter.java:105) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:342) at org.springframework.security.web.context.SecurityContextPersistenceFilter.doFilter(SecurityContextPersistenceFilter.java:87) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy$VirtualFilterChain.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:342) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy.doFilterInternal(FilterChainProxy.java:192) at org.springframework.security.web.FilterChainProxy.doFilter(FilterChainProxy.java:160) at org.springframework.web.filter.DelegatingFilterProxy.invokeDelegate(DelegatingFilterProxy.java:346) at org.springframework.web.filter.DelegatingFilterProxy.doFilter(DelegatingFilterProxy.java:259) at org.eclipse.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler$CachedChain.doFilter(ServletHandler.java:1652) at org.eclipse.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler.doHandle(ServletHandler.java:585) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.handler.ScopedHandler.handle(ScopedHandler.java:143) at org.eclipse.jetty.security.SecurityHandler.handle(SecurityHandler.java:577) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.session.SessionHandler.doHandle(SessionHandler.java:223) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.handler.ContextHandler.doHandle(ContextHandler.java:1127) at org.eclipse.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler.doScope(ServletHandler.java:515) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.session.SessionHandler.doScope(SessionHandler.java:185) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.handler.ContextHandler.doScope(ContextHandler.java:1061) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.handler.ScopedHandler.handle(ScopedHandler.java:141) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.handler.HandlerWrapper.handle(HandlerWrapper.java:97) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.Server.handle(Server.java:499) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.HttpChannel.handle(HttpChannel.java:310) at org.eclipse.jetty.server.HttpConnection.onFillable(HttpConnection.java:257) at org.eclipse.jetty.io.AbstractConnection$2.run(AbstractConnection.java:540) at org.eclipse.jetty.util.thread.QueuedThreadPool.runJob(QueuedThreadPool.java:635) at org.eclipse.jetty.util.thread.QueuedThreadPool$3.run(QueuedThreadPool.java:555) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)

Any help greatly appreciated!

@jasper,

What is the HDP and Ambari version you are using and also can you add atlas.properties file for review.

Is your browser kerberized ? which browser you are using ?

Are you redirected to login.jsp when you access the atlas dashboard url ?
