I am interested in the CCAH training being offered by Cloudera in a class, I have a question regarding the cluster set up for the practical session , do all the students in the class set up their individual cluster on EC2 or they all use the same EC2 cluster .
Please clarify.
Thank you.

These days, everyone has their own AWS cluster.

Are the students made to set up a new cluster for our exclusive use in AWS , or is it a shared cluster ?

Each student launches their own cluster.

Thank you , what type of instances are those , small , medium large , do I need to pay for the AWS extra ?

The cluster cost is part of the training; there is no additional cost to start the cluster. I do not know the size.

Thanks again, Is there any link that documents the AWS cluster set up during the training ?

I believe that the instructor actually creates the instances and the students configure them as they go through the lab exercises. There are no documents about the set up, as far as I know.
I am on the certification side, so I'm not very familiar with the course. I've sent a request to an instructor, so hopefully there will be some additional details added to this post later.

Hi all, students who take Cloudera's Administrator course [1]
each get a set of (5) Amazon EC2 instances to use as their
own cluster of servers during the course.
The instances are of type size t2.medium which provides 4GB of
RAM and 2 vCPUs for each instance.
During the class, students can use a "fast forward" script
to catch up to a particular exercise (or, "rewind" to a previous exercise).
The "fast forward" script uses Cloudera Manager's own API to
install and setup the services that are taught during the class.
After the class, we provide detailed instructions for setting
up your own cluster of the exact same AMIs to be able to
reproduce the exact exercises (and "fast forward" scripts)
from the class.
The AMI instances that are provided as part of the class
are free during the duration of the class, but students will
need an Amazon EC2 account to reproduce the AMIs after
the class ends.
Thanks, and please feel free to ask more questions about the
course on this thread.

Thank you Nate, is it possible to use Small instances after the class , or do we need to use atleast Medium type instances ?
