Can a mapreduce job (MR1) written in CDH5 be submitted and run on CDH4 cluster ?

Can a mapreduce job (MR1) written in CDH5 be submitted and run on CDH4 cluster ?

New Contributor

Hi,

I am looking to see once we migrate to CDH5 cluster, if we have a job written in MRv1 for CDH4, but now that job is recompiled with CDH5 libraries, can it still be submitted to and run by CDH4 cluster ?

Thanks

Since the API of MR has not changed radically between them, they will be able to run. However, do ensure you do not bundle the CDH5 libraries into your application jar.
