Change Ambari installation folder

New Contributor

I'm installing HDFS, HBase and Zookeeper services using Ambari 2.2.1.0 and HDP 2.4. I would like to change the base directory containing HDP program files from /usr/hdp to a mounted ephemeral disk since my / fs does not have enough space.

Is there a way to configure Ambari to store all the HDP files in a user-specified location. Is this setup in the HDP RPM scripts/ installation? Is there a way to update this across hosts in the cluster (other that manually creating a symlink from /mnt/hadoop/usr/hdp to /usr/hdp)?

Thanks!

@Ganesh Viswanathan

How about mounting the disk onto /hdp under /usr?

Sure. But I'd still have to change it on all hosts. Is there an easier way to perform this change within hdp repo?

It happens during hdp-select package installation right?
