Cloudera Manager Alerts throwing javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: 535 Authentication Creden

New Contributor

I have configured the all credentials as mentioned in
https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/enterprise/5-13-x/topics/cm_ag_email.html#xd_583c10bfdbd326ba...

When I ran clicked Send Test Alert I got

javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: 535 Authentication Credentials Invalid.

Same credentials are working fine when used openssl s_client -starttls smtp -connect email-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com:25 -crlf <

Do I have to enable starttls from cdh side ?
Please let me know how to fix this.

In general, there are some issues with Cloudera and StartTLS even in LDAP.

As you can see, there seems to be no option to enable startTLS on Alert publisher's settings.

The only options you have is either plain smtp or smtps.

Amazon seems to support SMTPS protocol, have you tried this?
