Compatibility HDP 2.6.4 and HDF 3.1.1

Hello,

I have installed HDP 2.6.4 and upgrade to HDF 3.1.1 to use Nifi, Schéma Registry and SAM.

I don't understand why Schéma Registry and SAM as not compatible in HDF 3.1.1 on an HDP 2.6.4.

Do I have to create two cluster (HDP + HDP) to use its services?

Hi @Clément Dumont,

Currently if you wish to use SR and SAM on HDF 3.1 with HDP 2.6.X you will need a separate cluster.

Please see the deployment scenarios https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDF3/HDF-3.1.0/bk_planning-your-deployment/content/ch_depl... for further details

You have an existing HDP cluster with Apache Storm and or Apache Kafka services and want to install Apache NiFi or NiFi Registry modules on that cluster.

This requires that you upgrade to the latest version of Apache Ambari and HDP, and then use Ambari to add HDF services to the upgraded HDP cluster.

You cannot install SAM and Schema Registry for HDF 3.1 on an HDP 2.6.4 cluster, and you cannot upgrade these services from a previous HDP cluster.

Hi @Richard Dobson

Can you explain, will i install HDF 3.1.1 on HDP 2.6.5?

I guess HDF 3.1 doesn't compatible with 2.6.4 because their has different version storm and kafka, but HDF 3.1.1 and HDP 2.6.5 has the same version, isn't it? Is it possible to install on existing HDP 2.6.5? In documentation from HDF 3.1.1 didnt have anything about compatibility from HDP 2.6.5.

Hi,

If you use the latest Ambari you can install HDF 3.1.1 on a HDP 2.6.5 Cluster
