Custom service implemented as a CSD with NO parcel ?

Custom service implemented as a CSD with NO parcel ?

New Contributor

Dear all,

I developed a simple service (a Kafka consumer) written in java language, compiled in a single .JAR file, started by a trivial bash script (java -jar ....   --<some command line parameters>).

I published it on my Cloudera Manager as a single CSD including both the startup.sh and then .JAR file in the /script directory of the CSD jar, with no parcel.

Everything works fine, but I would like to know if it is a bad practise as I definitely need an external parcel and, in this case, what are the side effects of my choice of packing everything in the CSD jar.

Thank you in advance.

Fabrizio
