EC2 AMI for slave nodes

I am planning to use EC2 for setting up a cluster and for elasticity purposes, we plan to have a variable number of data nodes. IS it possible to install the slave components (datanodes, node manager) on a machine and take an AMI (amazon machine image) of that machine. And in the future if i want to bring a slave node, will it be possible to make use of the AMI.

@ARUN my knee jerk reaction is it won't work that way. Ambari needs to register new data nodes and install component which are required based on your selection. Since the services already exist on the ec2 instance it might skip some of the install steps (can't say for sure). hope that helps.
