Expert Contributor

Hi Team,

i have a usecase wherein i want to copy some /hbase/data/xyz_folder from ABC cluster to NEW cluster

so i used distcp hadoop utility to copy data hbase data between 2 clusters

data copy using distcp was successful and i can see tables in hbase after hbase restart

however when i do scan 'table name' i get "ERROR: Unknown table table_name"

I am failing with below error while running hbck \

Exception in thread "main" java.io.IOException: Region {ENCODED => 005e496f6e51a16458918345a2ecd996, NAME => 'table name,BILL8774907 20140214,1443010379289.005e496f6e51a16458918345a2ecd996.', STARTKEY => 'BILL8774907 20140214', ENDKEY => 'BILL88'} failed to move out of transition within timeout 120000ms

Please take a look at this copyTable section from Apache HBase book. It has a brief description for all the options available for that utility and an example showing its usage.

https://hbase.apache.org/book.html#copy.table
