Error while installing Atlas - HDP 2.6, Ambari 2.5 RHEL 7.3

New Contributor

Hi Folks,

I am getting an error on one of the nodes on Step 9 (Install, Start, Test) for Atlas. Here is the error msg from stdout:

2017-06-01 20:11:40,783 - Stack Feature Version Info: stack_version=2.6, version=None, current_cluster_version=None -> 2.6
2017-06-01 20:11:40,790 - Using hadoop conf dir: /usr/hdp/current/hadoop-client/conf
2017-06-01 20:11:40,809 - Execute['curl -k -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}" http://ip-10-0-100-15:21000/'] {'tries': 5, 'user': 'ambari-qa', 'try_sleep': 10}
...
...
...
ATLAS service check failed for host ip-10-0-100-15.us-west-2.compute.internal with error Execution of 'curl -k -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}" http://ip-10-0-100-15:21000/' returned 7. 000

Can someone tell me what this could be ? Looks like the parameter value for http_code hasnt been supplied.

The env is:

RHEL 7.3

Ambari 2.5

HDP 2.6

The Error code that is returned from the "curl" command output is "returned 7" which means "Failed to connect() to host or proxy."

ATLAS service check failed for host ip-10-0-100-15.xx-xxxxx with error Execution of 'curl -k -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}" http://ip-10-0-100-15:21000/' returned 7.

.

Which means the host on which the service check was running is not able to access the mentioned HOST & PORT.

Suppose service check was running from host "test1.example.com" so in that case you will need to ssh to that host and then check if you are able to access the ATLAS host & port or not?

# telnet  ip-10-0-100-15  21000

.

It could also be happening if the cluster hosts are not setup with proper FQDN (also please check /etc/hosts).

You should also do a SSH login to the Atlas host and check if the port 21000 is actually opened or not or there was any error on atlas which caused it not to be able to open the port 21000.

# ssh root@atlas_Host
# netstat  -tnlpa | grep 21000

In addition to my previous comment, It will also be good if you can verify that you are able to start the Atlas manually or not ? The following doc shows how you can start Atlas manually and verify the port 21000 access.

https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.4.0/bk_installing_manually_book/content/validat...

# /usr/hdp/<hdp-version>/atlas/bin/atlas_start.py –port 21000

# Now access the URL
http://<ATLAS_Metadata_Server_FQDN>:21000/
