We created a Hive external table mapping to Hbase, and when I query it using select, it reports following errors. Once I switch back to "hive.execution.engine=mr", the problem gone and it's working fine.( I am using GCP Dataproc single cluster. )

@Karthik_076 What version you are using? There was a bug in HDP which can be workaround by Removing auxlib from all the nodes and copying phoenix jar to /usr/hdp/3.1.5.0-152/hive/auxlib/phoenix-5.0.0.3.1.5.19-3-hive.jar

Cheers!

The stacktrace indicates a resemblance to the issue reported in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-21698. To address this, it is recommended to upgrade to CDP version 7.1.7 or a higher release
