The installation of CDH5 packages from archive.cloudera.com fails:
> sudo wget 'https://archive.cloudera.com/cdh5/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/cdh/cloudera.list' -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cloudera.list ... (command succeeds) > sudo apt update ... E: Failed to fetch http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh5/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/cdh/dists/xenial-cdh5/contrib/source/Sources Writing more data than expected (11598 > 11595) E: Failed to fetch http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh5/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/cdh/dists/xenial-cdh5/contrib/binary-amd64/Packages E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Looks like the tree is inconsistent:
See also https://community.cloudera.com/t5/Cloudera-Manager-Installation/Cannot-update-Cloudera-Manager-5-16-... which seems to be related.

We rolled back the 5.16.0 release and it caused some inconsistencies in some repo files.
It should be fixed now.

Yes, that sounds plausible: 5.16.0 has been uploaded to archive.cloudera.com and later been withdrawn but all the Debian Release files for the "latest" CDH5 still references the withdrawn 5.16.0 package lists. Btw., this also applies to the archives of Cloudera manager (https://archive.cloudera.com/cm5/ubuntu/xenial/amd64/cm/dists/xenial-cm5/InRelease) and gplextras. Would be great if the release files get fixed. Thanks!

As a work-around (to be able to install CDH packages):
