Failed to start cloudera machine from udacity training vm 4.1.1

New Contributor

Hi everyone,

I have just started the intro to Hadoop course on Udacity and I am following through the instructions to install the cloudera preinstalled system with virtual box. Until now I have managed to correctly extract the file. However, when I run the machine and the CentOS starts loading the components:

1. I get a Failed for 'kdump ' but it continues to check other components

2. when it reaches Hadoop datanodes I get an OK but after that there is a long pause and then the screen shows some low level codes and messages. I guess it crashes at this point and no matter how long I wait It just refresh this screen. I could have included the screenshot here but I don't see any attachment options in the bar?

I really like to be able to do the exercises and try hadoop for myself. I thank you all for your help!

Bests,

Mona

Hi back,

The problem was due to lack of virtualization on my laptop (Acer ES1 512). Switched to Dell n4010 with virtualization enabled in bios, I managed to run the software in virtual box.

Thanks anyway!
