HDFS data? Hive? HBase?

Or are you just cloning configuration?

If everything is configured in Ambari, you can use Ambari Blueprints.

Export the Ambari blueprint for your current cluster:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AMBARI/Blueprints#Blueprints-BlueprintUsageOverview

Now you can build a new one from that.

That's certainly safer than coping all the files under /etc/ since there's configuration in databases as well.
