HBase Thrift 1 server cannot be contacted: could not connect to localhost:9090

Contributor

Hi folks,

This is a fresh Cloudera (parcels) install a 3-box CentOS cluster.  In the Hue UI, when I click on Databrowsers | HBase, I get this error message:

HBase Thrift 1 server cannot be contacted:  could not connect to localhost:9090

Could someone provide some pointers on how to get the HBase function working correctly?

Thanks,

ws

Master Guru
This is covered in our documentation.

You will need to follow the below link's sub-section of "Enabling the HBase Browser application" to resolve this: http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera-content/cloudera-docs/CM4Ent/4.7.2/Cloudera-Manager-Managin...

Step 1: Make sure Thrift server is running

Step 2: Make sure that the host and port (default 9090) is configured. If using hue: check configuration in hue.ini: under [hbase]->hbase_clusters. This should contain the thrift server and not the active hbase master (if they are different)
