HBase configuration via Cloudera Manager

Explorer

Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to add the following custom configuration to Hbase-site.xml, using cloudera Manager UI by updating "HBase Service Advanced Configuration Snippet (Safety Valve) for hbase-site.xml"

<property>

<name>hfile.index.block.maxsize</name>

<value>1048576</value>

<description>opentsdb compaction issue work-around</description>

</property>

After I restart sevice with stale configurations.

Changes will not take effect in /etc/alternatives/hbase-conf/hbase-site.xml file.

I'm using cloudera Manager 5.8.1. and CDH 5.8.0-1.cdh5.8.0.p0.42

Is there anything that I'm doing wrong in here.

Regards,

Raghu

Re: HBase configuration via Cloudera Manager

Super Guru

Hello,

(1)

"HBase Service Advanced Configuration Snippet (Safety Valve) for hbase-site.xml" only applies to Hbase roles, not the client configuration.   This means that changes made in this safety valve will not propogate to the /etc/hbase/conf/ dir.

To have the change pushed to clients, you can add it to the Gateway role "HBase Client Advanced Configuration Snippet (Safety Valve) for hbase-site.xml"  and then Deploy Client Configuration.

(2)

As we discovered, the property is actually "hfile.index.block.max.size" (a dot was missing between the "max" and "size" components)

Regards,
