I am planning for HCA - HORTONWORKS CERTIFIED ASSOCIATE Certification in next 2 months. I have already checked the exam objective and it is vast. I am reading below book for certification

Apress.Pro.Apache.Hadoop.2nd.Edition

Is this sufficient for passing the certification ? Can anyone tell me how to prepare for this certification ? Can someone share sample question being asked in this HCA certification?

You are correct that we do not post any sample questions for the HCA certification, but we will evaluate if that is a logical step for this entry-level certification. You correctly found the objectives at http://hortonworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/ExamObjectives-HCAssociate.pdf and while these are "vast" as you described, please note that the HCA "provides for individuals an entry point and validates the fundamental skills required to progress to the higher levels of the Hortonworks certification program".

If you are comfortable with the materials discussed in the Hadoop Essentials course, http://hortonworks.com/training/class/hadoop-essentials/, then you are an ideal candidate for this examination. Good luck!

Sharing questions from exam is not appropriate for this forum and goes against exam policies. We offer sample tests that will help you practice. Please look for the resources on the certification page.

hi @Artem Ervits... I could not find sample tests anywhere. Would you please post the link

For the HCA exam, there are no sample tests. Please review the objective link I provided above. The Essentials course is also offered as a one-day public training pretty regularly as seen at https://ilearning.seertechsolutions.com/lmt/clmsCatalogSummary.prMain?site=hw&in_region=hw and we are considering whether to offer this as a free on-demand offer as well.

Hi Lester,

I am planning to appear for HDPCA very soon, but i read this article:

http://www.dataarchitect.cloud/important-changes-coming-to-the-hortonworks-certification-program-hor...

As per this, the existing HDPCA will be changed to

HCA ---> Hortonworks Certified Professional Admin --> Hortonworks Certified Expert Admin

I am not able to find this information on Hortonworks site, so I am bit confused that whether should i appear for HCA or HDPCA?

Regards

Saurabh

Yes, there was some messaging back in late 2016 which indicated a change in the certification program, but it was determined that the planned changes were being released too fast and did not give enough time for folks already preparing for the existing certification exams to complete them. It is imaginable that the certification program will continue to evolve, but our intention is to ensure adequate time to adjust will be offered whenever any future plans are introduced. Please visit http://hortonworks.com/training/certification/ to see that the HCA and HDPCA are *both* valid and current certifications. Neither has a prerequisite certification either. Good luck on whichever exam(s) you decide to take!
