HDF Kerberos setup - Use existing HDP Kerberos Realm or create new realm

New Contributor

Hi,

we are deploying an HDF cluster in addition to our existing HDP cluster. The HDP cluster is kerberized using a local MIT KDC instance.

The new HDF cluster is managed by a separate Ambari instance. We will be re-using the existing MIT KDC instance we are using for the HDP cluster.

When kerberizing the HDF cluster should we be using the same Kerberos Realm (e.g. EXAMPLE.COM) we are using for our HDP cluster or should we be using a new Realm (e.g. HDF_EXAMPLE.COM)?

Kind Regards,
Markus

@Markus Maus,

You should use the same Kerberos Realm which is used for HDP cluster. You can check the realm in /etc/krb5.conf file in KDC host.
