Have you checked trying to wget http://public-repo-1.hortonworks.com/HDP/centos7/2.x/updates/2.5.3.0/hdp.repo from the server? It could be a case of firewall issues.
Also, can you post what error is shown next to the red exclamation?

You will need to register a new version first.
Are you defining the "Name" properly in the ambari UI while registering a new HDP 2.5 version?
Ambari UI --> Admin (Tab) --> 'Stack and Versions' --> "Versions" (tab) --> "Manage Version" (Button) --> "Register Version" --> From drop down button choose "HDP 2.5 Default Version Definition"
Then on the right side of this page you will see "Name: HDP-2.5." there you should define the version as 3.0 as mentioned in the screenshot.
.
Now you should be able to install a cluster on this newly register version.

Thanks guys. The instructions for setting proxy for ambari is incorrect or not very clear. I got it going and everything was fine.
