[HUE] Error in Hive query execution - Unable to fetch results

[HUE] Error in Hive query execution - Unable to fetch results

Contributor

Hi,

I have a CDH5.4.4 cluster

I can't run Hive queries from Hue, it throws this error:

Fetching results ran into the following error(s):

Couldn't find log associated with operation handle: OperationHandle [opType=EXECUTE_STATEMENT, getHandleIdentifier()=31e3ba21-952b-4cdf-8688-c8716fcb430d]

Surfing around I found this:

http://hortonworks.com/community/forums/topic/hive-show-database-error/

How can I implement it on Cloudera Manager ? Is it the correct solution ?

Thanks, bye

Omar

Hello, do you have any update ??
Today there's a planned restart of this cluster and I'd like to apply configuration changes if needed.

Thanks
O.

There are a couple of options here:

1.  Change the operations logging location by setting the following in HiveServer2 Advanced Configuration Snippet:

<property>
<name>hive.server2.logging.operation.log.location</name>
<value>/path/to/new/location</value>
</property>

2.  Make sure the default location exists and has correct permissions:

  • ssh to the HiveServer2 node
  • Switch to the root user
  • mkdir -p /tmp/hive/operation_logs
  • chmod 700 /tmp/hive
  • chmod 755 /tmp/hive/operation_logs
  • chown -R hive:hive /tmp/hive
  • Restart Hive via Cloudera Manager.

In either case make sure that the configured location exists and has permissions based on the above.

Thank you very much.
Just a question: what would you prefer from those ?
I suppose that using the tmp folder would be flushed upon system reboot, right ?

Hi,

We have done the same settings but still getting the same error though for some users only they get the error plus we have also give 755 to /tmp/hive instead of 700 as mentioned below.

Kindly suggest.
