Following doc "Hortonworks HDB (Powered by Apache HAWQ)" provides some best practices and install instructions https://docs.hortonworks.com/HDPDocuments/HDP2/HDP-2.6.4/bk_hdb-quick-guide/content/ch_hdb_summary.h...
Not sure if you are looking for the same info.

Unfortunately this guide is out of date because the link for Hawk client package is still pointing to Pivotal site which package is End of Availability ("EoA").

So what is the option?

don't install or run HDB it is dead and not supported anymore. The open source HAWQ is orphaned. If you have HAWQ commiters perhaps you can take over the project. It is dead since 2017.

There has been a recent release of v.2.3.0.0(March,18) though. Doesn't look like completely dead.

HAWQ is not sold or supported by Pivotal anymore. The Pivotal HDB product is discontinued and no longer available or supported.
Hortonworks does not support HDB or HAWQ.
The open source version is still available and you can run at your own risk:
http://hawq.incubator.apache.org/
You may want to consider Apache Hive LLAP included in HDP 2.6.4 or try IBM Big SQL.
I do not recommend anyone doing new HAWQ. If you have purchased it in the past from Pivotal, contact them, you may be able to get a copy.
Again, I do not recommend running HAWQ as it is not supported.
